Tebow mania !!! Timothy Richard “Tim” Tebow, is an American football player who is currently the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). I am still an old Broncos fan. Tim Tebow, who has become a media sensation with his team’s string of dramatic come-from-behind victories, is also know for his religeous beliefs that he publicly displays. This is a guy who kneels in prayer following good plays on the field and quotes Proverbs to his team. What is Tebowing? (vb) to get down on a knee and start praying, even if everyone else around you is doing something completely different.
Tebow’s attitude and the way the team rallies behind their young quarterback is infectious. Tebow’s staunch religious beliefs and seemingly bottomless pits of humility makes the new NFL star an exciting new sensation. Are there any parallel lessons we can learn in our trading from Tebow?
- First, the lesson of Tebow humility can help. Traders that often brag about how many pips they have won, distracts from keeping the emotion out of our trading decisions and sticking to our trade plans,
- Tebow does not get lost in the cheering of the crowds – he pauses and sticks to his beliefs. Similar in the markets when the excitement of the trade occurs, we need to not be distracted and hunker down and trade accordingly,
- Even when our trading position is weak, like Tebow when the game seems to be lost, one needs to focus on the fundamentals and win, and finally
- Maximising our opportunities – certainly Tebow does. If you have had a bad string of trades, it does not mean to give up. Double your efforts and stick with the trade.
This is just a few examples but see if you can find other Tebow analogies in your trading. Now if we could only get this Tebowing effect in our trading…
